How Can I Help?

When a baby is born, a parent is born, too — and both deserve to be nurtured. I'm here to wrap your family in support during these first precious weeks, from expert guidance to light meal prep and newborn care. My goal is to teach you to care for your newborn and yourself so that you can focus on bonding; helping to ensure your transition into parenthood is as smooth and gentle as possible.

Hi there! I'm Jody 👋

Momma of two newly-adult children, wife, dog mom and former nanny turned postpartum doula, certified lactation counselor and infant feeding specialist.

When I had my babies back in 2005 and 2006, I had very little support — no friends or family going through the same chapter at the same time, and no Google! What I would have given for some guidance and encouragement from another "Mom figure" that was both non-judgmental and helpful.

It is now my absolute pleasure to be able to offer this support to new families just beginning this very exciting, and sometimes scary, new phase of life! Supporting new parents and newborns brings me immense joy and I am grateful to be able to pass on my experience and wisdom to help families have as smooth a transition as possible into parenthood.

Certified Lactation Counseling

Lactation counseling can be offered separately from postpartum doula services. I provide infant feeding support for parents, available in person or virtually.

Whether you're working through latch difficulties, navigating pumping, or exploring combination feeding, I'll meet you where you are with patience and zero judgment.

Making a plan prior to giving birth for your infant feeding preferences can be done in the comfort of your home — no need to pack up baby and come to me.

FAQ

What does a postpartum doula actually do?

As a postpartum doula and certified lactation counselor, I don't just offer advice — I offer a steady, non-judgmental presence to help you navigate the early weeks. Whether we're troubleshooting a latch, establishing a sleep rhythm, or simply ensuring you've had a hot meal and a moment to breathe, I am here to help you build confidence and skills.

What locations or areas do you serve?

I am happy to support families in South Eastern Pennsylvania and Northern Delaware — basically within about 35 miles from Garnet Valley, PA. For lactation support, I also offer virtual sessions anywhere!

What is the difference between a day shift and an overnight shift?

Day shifts are typically 4 hours long and focus on hands-on support while you're awake — feeding assistance, household help, and parental education. Overnight shifts are typically 10 hours, allowing you to rest while I care for your baby through the night.

When should I book a postpartum doula?

I recommend reaching out during your pregnancy so we can get to know each other and plan your support schedule. However, it's never too late — I'm happy to help whether your baby has just arrived or is already a few weeks old!

What's your top piece of advice for an expectant parent?

Be open. Sometimes your plans turn out differently than you hoped or expected, and that's okay. Be open to advice and accepting help and support from others. Be open to allowing your partner to be involved — don't shoulder all of the burden. Be a team!

Do you support all types of families?

Absolutely. I welcome and affirm families of every structure, background, and identity. You are safe with me.
